This is me outside the main entrance to Fort Santiago, situated at the mouth of the Pasig River. This was the fort built by the Spaniards to protect Manila from attack. Today the fort houses the Rizal Shrine - the dungeon cell where Dr Joze Rizal spent his last days before being executed by the Spanish.
Here is the Jeepney - a form of transport unique to the Philippines. Originally converted from abandoned American military supplies, the Jeepney is now a vehicle in its own right. They are often used as public buses and their shining chrome and gaudy decorative panels are seen all over the Philippines.
Metro Manila is made up of several cities in their own right. The business district is called Makati and can be seen here. Manila is an incredible city - the buzz and vibrancy are astonishing.

This is a picture of Lake Taal, not far south of Manila. The island in the centre is actually a volcano.
I hope you've enjoyed these pictures. I hope to add to and replace them as time goes on. If you have any good ones please send them to me at [email protected] Credit will be given.
